Brookings Arts Council Construction Begins!
The Brookings Arts Council will be closing October 8th as the beginning phases of the renovation of the Brookings Arts Council starts. The 101 year old Carnegie building has been the home of the Brookings Arts Council for over 40 years.
“This much beloved historic building has had a long history of arts and groups and we are so excited that it is going to get a much needed upgrade and renovation,” stated Director Heather Kuhlman. “We know that during the renovation process our groups and activities will be displaced or change a bit, but understand those modifications will be short lived. The opportunity for such an expansive upgrade doesn’t come around very often and we need to allow the process to work. We are so appreciative of the City and the Donors that are making this happen and we ask for the public’s patience during this exciting time!”
The BAC will be closing October 8th and reopening mid summer of 2017. During that time a complete renovation of the galleries, the classroom and other spaces will occur. People will be able to follow the progress on our Facebook page and website: www.brookingsartscouncil.org
The Lifers Drawing Group, Out of the Basement Painters and the Woodcarving groups are working on other meeting locations during this time. Please contact the group leaders for more information regarding their new meeting places.
