The Fine Art Exhibit and Competition, the Brookings Arts Council Annual juried multi-media art exhibition opens Wednesday, August 1st at the Brookings Arts Council. A reception on August 2nd, will begin at 4:30pm. Winners, along with monetary awards, will be announced during a ceremony at 5pm.
Regional artists have submitted pieces for a chance to exhibit in this long-running show. Guest juror, Associate Professor of Art and Art History at Northern State University, Dr. Greg Blair, has carefully selected each piece and will present awards to the winning artists at the August 2nd awards reception.
Regular gallery hours are 12-5pm Tuesday through Friday, we will be closed on Saturday’s through August. Exhibit continues through August 24th. Admission is free.
Meet the Juror:
Dr. Greg Blair is an Associate Professor of Art and Art History at Northern State University. Originally from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, he briefly attempted to be a punk rock drummer before deciding to study art and philosophy.
He has exhibited his artwork and presented his research in locations such as Italy, Portugal, NYC, New Orleans, Boston, Alaska, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, and Canada. Blair’s recent book, Errant Bodies, Mobility, and Political Resistance, will be published by Palgrave Macmillan in September 2018.
