A multimedia exhibition of artwork and design inspired by golf’s history, culture, landscapes, and people
The Brookings Arts Council will be exhibiting the works of Dr. Matthew R. James in its main gallery. The exhibit opens Feb. 6 and runs until Mar. 1 and James’ collection showcases golf through a variety of art pieces.
As a golfer, James has traveled all around to follow the sport he loves. “The sport of golf and its culture has been rooted in my life since I was a young child,” he said. “At the same time in my youth I was drawn to art. These interests met, bonded, and have held a strong influence in my life ever since.”
The exhibit will feature print, oil painting, graphite pencil sketching, digital print, three-dimensional modeling, watercolor, and golf course architecture representation.
A reception for James’ exhibit is on Feb. 7 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with James giving an artist presentation at 5:00. Refreshments and snack will be provided.
The Brookings Arts Council is open Tuesday-Saturday from 12:00-5:00 p.m.
