BAC Announces Winners of the Annual Photography Contest
It was a big night for Brookings and Madison photographers as they each received first place honors in the Annual Brookings Arts Council Photography Competition. Jeff West, of Brookings, received the 1st place designation for his color image titled, ‘Reflections’, as did Madison photographer Emily Schroeder for her BW image, ‘Abandoned’. Both photographers received a $75.00 check for their first place designation.
Second place in the color division went to Chelsie Bakken of Volga, for “Lacing the Skates,” Bakken received a $50.00 check for her 2nd place award.
Emily Schroeder of Madison won third place in the color division for her piece “Mason Jars” and received a $25.00 check.
Our online People’s Choice digital image was created by Emily Schroeder, for her 3rd designation of the evening, for her piece entitled, "Tulips”. She received a check for $75.00
Sioux Falls photographer Shalista Anderson was this year’s judge. Although she was unable to attend the reception, she did provide written individual image critiques for each of the entrants. We appreciated her time and talent and her thoughts on each of the pieces for the artists.
The exhibit is open to the public through Friday, January 26, at 3pm. There is no admission charge. The Brookings Arts Council is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 12 to 5pm.
