2026 Regional Photo Biennial
Applications Open June 19th
Calling all photographers! Applications for Gallery 1516’s fall juried show, the 2026 Regional Photography Biennial, open June 19th!
We’re looking for the best fine art photography being created in the Midwest. Eligible artists include current and former residents of Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota, and Wyoming. All experience levels are welcome to submit their best gallery-quality work, including professionals, students, hobbyists, etc.
Apply for the opportunity to show your artwork in an exhibition at Gallery 1516 in Omaha, on display from October 8 – December 20, 2026. And the best part? There will be $19,000 in prizes awarded, including $10,000 for the Best in Show photograph!
Photos are accepted in eight categories, including Animal, City/Street, Experimental, Foul Weather, Landscape/Nature, Objects, People, and Student work. Artists can submit up to three images for consideration.
Your entry fee for this exhibition helps support our non-profit mission for the arts and includes a one-year membership to Gallery 1516. Start preparing your application now, so you’re ready when it opens on June 19th!

The Champion Foundation | Open Call for Artists: The Art of Music
The Champion Foundation is inviting local artists to submit original artwork for The Art of Music, a one-night charity event taking place Thursday, September 17th, 2026 at the Shriver Square Atrium in downtown Sioux Falls.
THEME: “Concert Posters Reimagined”
Artists are invited to create original artwork inspired by concert posters —Submissions must reinterpret a concert of the artists choice OR one of the below iconic Sioux Falls concerts listed for inspiration.
Purpose of the Exhibition
Sell one-of-kind work to raise money with all proceeds benefiting the local arts + music community
Highlight the creativity of local and regional artists
Celebrate music history and culture
Encourage playful reinterpretation of iconic concert poster styles
Eligible Artwork
Original artwork only
Any medium that can be displayed as a poster (digital, illustration, painting, collage, mixed media, etc.)
Must be formatted to a standard poster ratio (e.g., 11×17 or 18×24)
Content Requirements
Must clearly reference a concert
The design should clearly communicate:
Performer(s) or band name
Venue or location
Show date or year
Artists must reinterpret the concept in a transformative way rather than recreating an existing poster.
No copyrighted imagery or direct replicas of existing posters; reinterpretation must be transformative
Submission Guidelines:
Up to 3 submissions per artist
No submission fee
Deadline: Monday, August 17th at 11:59 PM CT
Artists will be notified of acceptance by Monday, August 24, 2026, and provided with delivery instructions
Event Date: Thursday, September 17th | Art set up by 3:30 PM
Sales & Donations:
Accepted works will be available for public purchase during the event. Artists will price their own work and choose to donate between 50% and 100% of the sale proceeds to the Champion Foundation, which directly supports local arts programming — including partnerships with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Sioux Falls School District’s guitar education programs.

The Center for Western Studies at Augustana University | 45th Annual Artists of the Plains Art Show Call for Artists
The Center for Western Studies at Augustana University is excited to announce the 45th Annual Artists of the Plains Art Show will be held November 6–8, 2026, at The Catlin in Downtown Sioux Falls. As we celebrate 45 years of showcasing the talent and creativity of Northern Plains artists, we invite both returning and new artists to be part of this milestone event. Following our highest-attended show to date in 2025, we look forward to welcoming artists and visitors back to downtown Sioux Falls for an exciting weekend celebrating regional art, artists, and the enduring tradition of this beloved show.
As a signature program of the Center for Western Studies, this show and sale is designed to educate the public about the cultural importance and variety of regional art and artists. As the largest and longest-running show of its kind in the region, it functions as part of the Center’s Art Program and Educational Exhibits emphasis, which is supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The show is a gift from the Center for Western Studies and its supporters to the artists and collectors of the Northern Plains. All staff time necessary to prepare, market, and conduct the show is underwritten by the Center’s operations budget and endowment. The Center does not take a commission on any artist’s sales.
The Center for Western Studies offers CASH AWARDS in the following categories:
• Two-Dimensional Best of Show: $200 first place and $100 second place
• Three-Dimensional Best of Show: $200 first place and $100 second place

Arts@MSP Program seeking artists for public art opportunities at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport
Request for Qualifications for Public Artist Roster
Overview: The Arts@MSP Program is creating an Artist Roster of emerging, mid-career and established artists who will be prequalified for future public art opportunities at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). This roster will be one method of selecting artists to develop temporary, permanent, free-standing or site-integrated artwork of various complexities, forms, and sizes, indoors and outdoors, at MSP Terminals 1 and 2.
Eligibility: This call is open to professional artists residing in the United States. Regional talent is preferred.
Budget: Project budgets for roster-based selections will vary, depending upon project complexity. Contract awards above $175,000 are subject to approval by the Metropolitan Airports Commission.
Deadline: Applications will be accepted at any time, and reviews are anticipated to be conducted quarterly in January, April, July, and October.
