Each year, the Brookings Arts Council awards a $500 scholarship to a Brookings High School senior planning to pursue the arts after graduation. This scholarship is one way we show our commitment to supporting young artists as they take their next steps into the creative world.
In 2024, we renamed this community scholarship in honor and memory of beloved Brookings artist and longtime BAC friend, Bob Semrad. Bob, always ready with a smile and a story, held two bachelor's degrees in the arts. A true believer in learning and creating art for art’s sake, we aim to carry on that spirit through this scholarship.
Applications for 2025 are now closed. Class of 2026 applications will open in January. If you’d like to support the future of the arts in Brookings, donations to the scholarship fund are always welcome.
