Artist Statement
I work in a variety of mediums including, fibers, clay and most recently acrylics, and encaustic. The interplay and reciprocal exchange of the various mediums is challenging and illuminating. Each medium presents specific technical challenges however the formal qualities and design principals remain the same. I find it advantageous to engage in multiple mediums to continue pushing, learning, and the challenge of responding to ideas and overcoming issues and the limitations of certain mediums and processes. The focus of these acrylic paintings are color, line, visual texture and pattern. The work evolves intuitively, I begin playing until I am satisfied with the process then refine and resolve the images. I am influenced by nature, travel, materials and general curiosity.
